This afternoon we’re delighted to feature the stunning work of fashion and portrait photographer Monika Gorka. Originally from Poland, Monika now lives in Oxford where she works to produce photography that “captures and represents human individuality in all its forms.”
“In 2007, shortly after moving to England, I completed a course in film photography and developed a passion for it. I have previously lived in Holland, Belgium and Poland (where I’m originally from) and each experience certainly helped nurtured my creativity.”
“Apart from that first course I am self-taught and pursue my photography to continually capture and represent human individuality in all its forms. I currently live in Oxford where I mainly work on conceptual photography projects taking people’s portraits. I am inspired by the work of Sally Mann and Peter Lindbergh but also by the ordinariness of everyday life.
What I like about photography is the connection that I make with the people I shoot, enjoying observing their emotions and feelings. At the moment I’m working on a project where I combine beauty shoots with images of the trees in order to reflect personalities with scenes from nature. Portrait photography is what I feel most attached to but recently I have enjoyed working on more abstract artistic images too.”
